Testimony Meeting 7/29

07.29.15 InnocenceFor many of us, it’s probably been a while since we felt we were as innocent as the angel pictured above.  Does this mean that we’ve lost our innocence?  Was it taken from us?  What is innocence anyway, and where did we get it in the first place?

Merriam Webster’s dictionary defines innocence as “freedom from guilt or sin through being unacquainted with evil.”  Popular opinion holds that as we age and mature, our actions, or what others have done to us, acquaint us with the ways of the world, and like Adam and Eve with the apple, we gain a knowledge of good and evil and are no longer innocent.  But Christian Science teaches us that this is just an opinion, and it doesn’t have to be that way.  In the first Psalm the author encourages us to avoid the path of wickedness and sin by delighting in the law of the Lord, and meditating on this law day and night.  God’s law is the law of Life, Truth, and Love.  This law governs all of creation, and it’s application results in harmony.  It doesn’t allow for any circumstances that could result in a loss of innocence.

We can claim our freedom from sin and guilt right now by centering our lives around the law of God, or the law of good.  Join us this Wednesday, July 29th at 7:00pm for our Wednesday night testimony meeting.  We’ll hear readings from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook on the topic of “innocence” and testimonies from individuals who have reclaimed their God given innocence for themselves.
