Testimony Meeting Wed. 7/24

Wed 7.24.13Looking at the world today one might think that all human behavior can be reduced to an economic equation, a series of incentives which cause us to act or not. One popular book on the subject, Freakenomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner makes the case for just that, claiming that we live a world where everyone from Sumo wrestlers to real-estate agents are motivated more by self-interest than the customers or audience they serve. This postulate would seem to be at odds with some of the world’s most valued religious teachings, from the Ten Commandments to Jesus’ sermon on the mount. Mary Baker Eddy wrote in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, “Right motives give pinions to thought, and strength and freedom to speech and action” (pg 454).

Join us this Wednesday, July 24th at 7:30pm for readings that explore what truly motivates us. After the readings there will be an opportunity for anyone attending to share their experiences and inspiration.
