Are we at the mercy of unpredictable forces? Is there a way to live that allows us to break out of the endless cycle of one unforeseen catastrophe after another? We can break the cycle by living an empowered life through Divine Love.
Divine Love empowers us. When we put our faith in God, we can wield the power of Love, and it’s effects are seen in our lives. Christ Jesus gave us the best example of how this is possible. Time and time again he was able to circumvent the ill effects of what was sure to be a calamitous situation by trusting in Love’s constant care. In chapter eight of the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus and his disciples sail across the sea in the middle of a dangerous storm. The disciples literally thought they were going to die, and told Jesus as much. His response to them was “’Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!’ Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.”
The disciples were amazed. Wouldn’t you be? This man had just told the weather what to do, and it listened. Now we may not find ourselves in the ocean staring down tempests every day, but everyone does come up against obstacles that threaten to deprive us of our joy, or even our life. Jesus’ message to all mankind is that we are not powerless in the face of these obstacles. We can overcome anything that stands in our way through Love. How? In the same way Jesus’ faith was able to stop the destruction of the wind and waves, our faithful prayers can bring resolution to conflict and healing to illness. Our Father-Mother God wants us to have a life that is harmonious, joyful, and fulfilling.
Third Church is your resource to learn how to better demonstrate this power of prayer. Won’t you join us?
