Join us for a Christmas talk, titled “Jesus’ Birth In A Troubled World: Finding Safety In Love” by Dr. Shirley Paulson CS and explore how the enduring gift Jesus taught then can bring transformation to us and our world now.We may be wondering, after all we’ve been through, how we can possibly be united?
Plan to be with us for a joyful Christmas evening starting at 7:15 pm with Christmas carols, followed by an inspiring Christmas talk by Shirley Paulson at 7:30 pm on December 23rd at Three West Club, 3 West 51st Street @ 5th Avenue in the Grand Salon Room on the 3rd Floor. Afterwards stay and visit with friends and family, then walk around the block to see the Angels and Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center, smelling the roasting chestnuts along the way.

ABOUT DR. SHIRLEY PAULSON, CS

Dr. Shirley Paulson is a Bible scholar, researcher, author, Christian Science practitioner, and principal producer of “Early Christian Texts: The Bible and Beyond,” a website that offers teachings and adult learning courses on the work of early Christian scholars. She has been involved with Christian Science for most of her life and has published over 90 articles, testimonies, and recordings in the Christian Science Periodicals, served on the Board of Lectureship, and as head of ecumenical affairs for The Mother Church. Her exploration and research into the Bible and early Christian texts began with her Master of Theological Studies work and later a PhD in Religion and Theology. Her academic work focuses on early Christian writings, especially those relating to healing practices and theology. Her 2022 book, Illuminating the Secret Revelation of John: Catching the Light, explains why this classic ancient text is important for modern Bible readers who want to understand Jesus’s teachings in a new way.

About Jenny Lynn Stewart
Jenny Lynn Stewart has been Third Church’s soloist for more than 10 years. Jenny grew up in Detroit Michigan. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in voice performance from The University of Michigan. Jenny made her Carnegie Hall debut as the soprano soloist in Dvorak’s Requiem. She has toured the United States and the world in such Rodgers and Hammerstein classics as Carousel (Nettie Fowler) and The Sound of Music (The Mother Abbess) with fellow artists including Marie Osmond, John Davidson, and Patrick Cassidy.
About Todd Peters
Todd is happy to serve Third Church as its organist.
He has two advanced degrees, one from Indiana University
and the other from Southern Methodist University. Mr. Peters has
been an theatre director, coach, teacher, and organist
starting as a teenager in his hometown church in the Midwest.
