Admit the existence of matter, and you admit that mortality (and therefore disease) has a foundation in fact. Deny the existence of matter, and you can destroy the belief in material conditions. (Science and Health 368:27-31)
The material body is not the essence of life.
From the Christian Science Weekly Bible Lesson for the week ending Sunday, September 18th, 2016
I love this citation from the Christian Science textbook in this week’s Christian Science Bible Lesson. It illustrates the reality that our thought models, either of life in matter or life in Spirit, shape our experience. When we work in thought to rid ourselves of the old material models and realize the truth that our life has a spiritual foundation, that’s the basis on which healing and regeneration occur. The idea that a heart can give life to God’s spiritual creation is as unreal as the plastic heart in this picture!
