Testimony Meeting 4/1

04.01.05 The Power of SpiritHave you ever felt powerful, or powerless? Where do these feelings come from? What is the source of power, and is power something we can obtain? The Bible gives us many examples of individuals seeking power. In Jesus’ time, those employed as tax collector’s were perceived by the people as having considerable power. One of the chief tax-collectors named Zacchaeus, although short in stature, was greatly feared among the people for his corrupt behavior. When the humble Jesus of Nazareth passed through town, Zacchaeus felt an innate desire to see him. Despite his great riches Zacchaeus felt such a need to see Jesus, who had forsaken all material possessions, that he climbed a nearby tree to catch a glimpse over the sizable crowd.

In this action, Zacchaeus showed that he was turning over a new leaf. He could sense the true power of Spirit that Jesus was expressing which was greater than the power he could gain from material wealth. When this realization fully hit him, he promised that everyone whom he had wronged would be repaid four times as much as what he had taken, and half of everything he had he would give to the poor. In losing his sense of material power, he gained the power of the Spirit and was rewarded with Jesus’ benediction “This day is salvation come to this house,” (Luke 19:9).

Join us this Wednesday, April 1st at 7:30pm for our testimony meeting. Readings from the Bible and Science and Health will be offered on the subject of “The Power of the Spirit.” What makes all of our testimony meetings so great are the real life examples people share of practicing and demonstrating how they use this power in their own lives to exercise their God given dominion. Can’t come in person?  Join us on the phone!
