Testimony Meeting Wed. 7/31

Wed 7.31.13

The general consensus of the world today is that a huge percentage of the problems we face are linked to one human emotion: fear. From Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s inaugural proclamation that “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself,” to Yoda’s oft quoted wisdom that “Fear is the path to the dark side,” we can discern that this feeling, if left unchecked, will only lead us further down the rabbit hole of disaster. One might try to balance this argument by saying that while fear in general is not a good thing, a certain amount can be healthy. After all, we live in an unpredictable world where forces out of our control can at an instant come crashing in, laying waste to our best laid plans. Fearing this is only natural and allows us to prepare ourselves for the worst while expecting the best.

How can we cope with this emotion? How do we handle fear? Can fear be eliminated entirely? In 1st John, the apostle writes that “perfect love casteth out fear:” and “He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” Join us this Wednesday, July 31st at 7:30pm to hear more from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook about living a life without fear.
