When you walk into a Church of Christ, Scientist anywhere in the world, you will usually see two texts at the front of the Church flanking the reader’s podium.  These texts are chosen by the founding members of the Church, and they give each visitor insight into what that membership found important, a keystone in the foundation of their spiritual understanding.  The subject of this week’s Christian Science Bible lesson must have been of particular importance to the founding members of Third Church.  The Bible text they chose to adorn the walls of our edifice, from John 6:63, says “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” – Christ Jesus
