Testimony Meeting 8/19

08.19.2015 Christ's Healing GraceFollowing up on last Wednesday’s exploration of “God’s Healing Grace,” this week we are taking a look at healing grace from another angle, the perspective of the Christ.  While the nature of God and Christ are the same, their purpose in healing is different, and it can be helpful to examine more closely the unique functions they serve.

What is Christ?  A great place to start looking for an answer is in the life of Jesus, who, as Mary Baker Eddy wrote, “was the highest human concept of the perfect man […] inseparable from Christ, the Messiah, – the divine idea of God outside the flesh.” (Science and Health 482:19-22).  Jesus was the first to claim his divine sonship and demonstrate this claim through his healing work.  But the Christ is not confined only to the life of Jesus, the Christ is here with us throughout all time, and is available to each and every one of us today.

Christ is the perfect idea of man coming from God and destroying anything that is inharmonious.  By quieting the material senses and attuning ourselves to spiritual sense we can hear the Christ speaking to us, see the Christ in action, and feel the Christ love that is expressed in healing.  Every day the Christ is there leading the way.  When a thought or situation comes to us that would suggest we are less than perfect, whether it’s sickness, a sense of lack, or failure, we can know that we “can do all things through Christ.”  Christ will bar the door to any kind of negativity, and open the floodgates of God’s love which shower us with healing grace.

Join us this Wednesday, August 19th at 7:30pm for our Wednesday night testimony meeting.  We’ll hear readings from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook on the topic of “Christ’s Healing Grace” and testimonies of healing.
